Have you ever heard of a dog who has trouble jumping on the couch, chair, or bed

My dog Molly is so comical to watch. Sometimes she does ok and rarely does she get on the furniture anyway, but she has this 'problem'...lol. It's like she's forgotten how to jump or her brain has a disconnection with her hind legs. She stares into a chair for a few seconds and then jumps....however only her front legs make it up. She'll back up a little bit and try again and she slams into the chair with just her front paws up in it. She'll try a few times. Sometimes she makes it, sometimes not. These pieces of furniture are not much higher than herself. Of course, I usually feel bad and sometimes I'll just give her a boost when I notice she's been trying. It is too cute though. I wish we could upload videos on here. I'll try to get one when I can link it.

We have a miniature schnauzer who is a little on the chubby side and, try as she might, she just can't seem to make it up onto our bed. She runs from side to side whimpering and motioning as if she's going to jump but then stops. When she does eventually get brave enough to try she usually get her two front paws up and then falls flat on her back. It's at that point that I take pity and lift her up.

Don't you just wonder how anyone could not love dogs? :)

You know, my golden retriever was the same way. He would constantly try to get on the table to eat steak with my buddies and I. Every time he would try he'd fail miserably and end up hitting his head on the table...he was so stubborn to, he never quit trying even after hurting himself, I wonder if there is a certain malfunction that we don't know of?

None of my animals, dogs or cats, had problems jumping onto furniture till they were too old to be able to. My Lab that I had recently had to put down due to arthritis being too painful for meds, used to love jumping up in bed with me till one day he just couldn't anymore. It broke my heart seeing the look in his eyes when he sat there wanting to come up and lay with me. I made him stairs so he could climb up in bed with me. He was happy as can be then. Now my older cat uses them as well cause he can jump on the bed but with a lot of effort and digging of his back claws. Never encountered a dog that couldn't jump other than the small breeds.

I wonder, does Molly have a touch of arthritis in her hind quarters? does she cringe when you touch her hip(s)? one of our Bichons is not able to jump up anymore...and she will yelp if we brush her hip area...the vet said it is arthritis that this breed is susceptible to it.
