No, I don't think that it is racist to call an African American friend brown bear. I kind of find it endearing instead. Bears are very fluffy, furry and beautiful. It is only sad that we can't hug them and play with them because they cannot be domesticated. This is the reason why we have to content ourselves with toys only, because we can never have the real ones for our own.
