Each year Shell UK runs a national programme called Shell Step. The programme aims to help small and medium-sized businesses develop their potential by using the skills of the UK’s brightest undergraduates. This helps businesses to address specific development issues over an 8-week summer placement programme that runs typically through July and August.Locally the Shell Step programme is provided the Essex Development and Regeneration Agency (ExDRA), working in partnership with Business Link for Essex - Providers of Business Information, advice and support in Essex.Uniquely this placement programme also runs a competition. Each student will be competing for the title of the 'Most Enterprising Student' in Essex, whereby they will then have the chance of entering the regional and potentially the national Shell Step finals. Shell Step in Essex is renowned for its high profile and polished award ceremony, which is going to be held in August 2007 at the 'Waterfront Place', in Chelmsford. At this ceremony we will reward students for all of their hard work by offering cash prizes for those that receive an award.

What should we be remembered for? Let us for a moment pause to reflect what it is that for which we would like to be remembered for by future generations. Will we be remembered for how many mosques our generation has added, will we be remembered for how many temples our generation has added or will we be remembered for how many gurudwaras our generation has added? No, not at all. We will be remembered only if we give to our younger generation a prosperous and safe Nation, resulting out of economic prosperity coupled with civilisational heritage.
