Would you TELL a FRIEND that their House STINKS??

If you walked into your friend's house and it smelled of things that had gone bad or bad pet odors would you tell them?? I mean they were living in this home and didn't smell it, would you point it out that they needed to change and not live in such conditions? I have read about people living in filth and dog feces for years and never cleaning up their act, even when told by the authorities, how would you handle such a situation?

yes, I certainly would tell a friend and if they didn't clean it up I wouldn't go to their house anymore. If they asked me why I don't come over I would tell them again. I had a friend that her house was horrid and one day I spent my whole day off work helping her clean, not doing it for her but helped, a week later you couldn't tell we had done anything and I was so angry I just stopped going over.

I would definately tell my friends if their house smells and i have done it many times. I wont do it rudely though i will just gradually bring it up. I would want them to tell me if mine smelled bad.

It would depend on how long you were friends. If it was someone I had just met and the whole house was a pig pen, I just wouldn't go over there anymore. If it was a long time friend and the house was normally decent and noticed a smell. I would say something. I would try to becareful how I said it.

Maybe I wouldn't use that word but I would try to nicely tell them that their current litter product isn't working very well. Maybe they should think of trying another one. Some people get so used to the smell of cats or dogs until they honestly don't smell them like the visitors might. So if you keep animals in your house you should be aware that they might be causing an odor that you are no longer aware of. I find cat odor pretty offensive so I can usually tell when I walk in the door if there is a cat that lives there. I agree with one of the other writers that if a person is living in filth, they are probably already aware that their house stinks. In that case, I just wouldn't go there to visit.

I think I might. I am always afraid my housee stinks because I have a rabbit and as of Tuesday 2 cats. No one else will clean the litter box besides me. I am the only one. On the weekend I am going to buy the stuff you add to the litter to make it smell cleaner. The rabbits cage should be cleaned more often. So if someone was in the same position I would tell them.

Yes i would. why wouldn't i? their my friends so im telling them since they need to know and i wouldnt like them to reach the point where they would be immuned to the smell, (simillar to what you have mentioned, that they have been living in dog feces and never smelled it...) and someday, someone else like someone from their work place, a boss probably- visits them and smells their house, that would be pretty embarrasing for my friend and it may affect his job too. Plus the fact that their health is being compromised because anything that smells bad- has bacteria in it- and if there is bacteria, there is infection, and they can get sick because of it... And i dont want that, it may even start an epidemic for all i know! as their concerned friend, i would tell them and if need be- help them clean their house.. or write to a reality tv show like clean house and other shows that deal with houses and stuffs.. so their house might get cleaned and hopefully, they get a wake up call from all of these..
