I know that some of you use Tarot cards (as well as various other forms of divination) adn I'm curious..what is your take on doing readings for children or teens..either your own or someone elses? And how do you feel about teaching children or teens how to use Tarot cards and the like for themselves? I've done readings for a couple of teens (with their parents permission of course) and I've done and Animal Totem for each of my kids (to find their 9 animals) a few yrs ago but I've never done a reading for my kids...however I have told my son that if he wanted I would do a reading for him this weekend (he's 13.5 yr/old) and if he is interested I'm considering getting him his own deck... any thoughts?

I think if you have that much experience in Tarot, then I see nothing wrong with getting him his own deck. :) He would have you to teach him how to read and lay them. I have tried Tarot...and when I am focused enough, I do get my answer or guidance. But I just can't seem to get the hang of it and have not found a book that truly makes me get it yet. So, my cards sit and gather dust with hopes that one day, I will finally completely comprehend them. :) But I have so much on my plate right now...I do not have time for my studies as I know I should be doing. :(

I think he'd be okay with a deck too really...but I mean he's been familiar with it all since he was about 5 or 6 (not just the cards but my path overall)...he started doing his own rituals and participating in Samhain etc 7 yrs ago..he knows the basic in's and out's etc and he's used my D.Virtue Cards and so on so its not like he's completely virginal and in the dark etc...I actually had planned to pass on the deck his aunt gave me as my first deck (they had been given to her when she started on her path YRS ago) when he turned 18 (along with some other important things) but we'll see how this goes....and if he doesnt want them I'll pass them on to one of my grandkids should they show interest and walk a similar road ya know.. I'll do a reading for him this weekend like I promised and then I'll take it from there and see if he wants a deck of his own....I'd have to lay rules down though, like he cant be bringing them to school etc..I wont allow that.... I knwo whta you mean about not having time...I keep meaning to get more solid on my path etc and its just been one thing after another so my efforts are only able to be halfa$$ed which is SO frustrating LOL... holy hell I'm yappy...time for bed LOL thanks for your reply brokentia +++'s and best for you :-D

Thanks for the best response. :D And you know, I completely understand the setting of the rules if you get him his own deck. It didn't even cross my mind about taking them to school! The city I live in is super religious. And I am talking Christianity! There is this HUGE school here for them to learn how to become a pastor/minister and such. It is called Rhema. They even have their own TV channel! So, if my kids were to take something like that to school...I can't help but wonder what the reaction would be! My son's friend is not even allowed to come over to play anymore because they found out that we are Pagan. Well...the mother knows and doesn't have a problem with it. But the father does not allow the friend to come over anymore. Sad really!

I wouldn't do it on a young child... but a teen might be ok as long as the parents are ok with it. Also if it's a teen that's really emotional, I don't know that I would do it. Because if you tell them something bad they might react really badly... and the Tarot reading isn't set in stone.
