Anyone have problems with Charter Communications??

I've been a customer with Charter Communications for 3 years now, and there's always something going wrong. I'd love to switch to another provider, but they're the only broadband provider in my area. We're always calling them out about something, normally my internet going out at the same time everyday, but they are driving me crazy today. I made a service call LAST WEEK and i couldn't get an appointment until today, so here i've sat at home all day waiting on them. The appointment ran out and I called to find out where they are.....where are they? The appointment was put in the computer for 2008! So now I have to sit here for the rest of the day waiting for them to show up sometime before 8 pm. Anyone else having problems with them?

They are truly awful. We had cable and internet connection through them (like you, they were the only cable company in the area). Their cable service wasn't too bad but the internet was an absolute joke...it was off more than it was on. We eventually switched to Direct TV and Bellsouth for our internet (which has been great BTW)

I wish we could switch to bellsouth but even they don't offer in our area. I live in the middle of BFE. I can't say that my connection is off more than it's on, but losing service at certain times of the day everyday, oh and signal spikes are a huge ongoing problem for 3 years now. I finally convinced them to give me 10meg internet free for 6 months, and if things don't start getting fixed i'm gonna start demanding more!

We, too, have Charter and I not really very happy. Years ago we had Charter for our cable only and I hated their service back then. Later we switched to DishNetwork and used Southwestern Bell for our DSL. I was very happy with that arrangement. When we moved five years ago the only high speed internet access available was through Charter so we became Charter customers again. Because of pricing they are now our provider of telephone, cable and internet. Their customer service is miserable. I do have to comment that our local payment office for Charter actually employs one outstanding customer service rep. He has helped me with billing issues and gotten me fast service for phones issues. He is the only person I've encountered in the entire Charter organization that seems to care about the customers. If we had a choice I'd change but we're stuck for now.
