I was reading an article where is stated an Indian tradition is to shave the hair off babies whne they are 8months old and they bring the hair to a temple. Can anyone tell me the purpose for this. I am just curious. :)

It is believed that the hair that a child is born with has to be shaved off. Also, shaving the first hair off leads to better hair growth in future and since if anything is made a religious offering, chances are people will have more faith in it. Thats why its done in a temple. I quite like the custom, babies have known to have better hair if their hair is haved off beofre the first year.

I guess you could be right, because the article was in a baby magazine, and the little girl won. Her hair was beautiful. :)
