Who would you save?

Your house that you share with your roommate and your pet cat is on fire. You can't stand your roommate. He/She is always late with the rent, drinks your milk out of the carton; eats your food without paying for it; has accidently torn up some of your stuff; lies around smoking pot all day; and is an all-around loser. You raised your cat since he/she was a tiny baby. The cat loves you unconditionally; is playful, fun and cute, and you love it. You can only save one: either your roommate or your cat, but not both, before the house collapses and totally burns up. Which one do you save?

Why am I living with such unfortunate company in the first place? :( And how difficult is it to put the cat under one arm and drag the roommate loser at the same time? Can I even save my own life to begin with? As you can see, I have some questions of my own, regarding your ethical dilemma!

In order to give a logical answer, I must start with a logical problem :( At least give me a plausible reason as to why I can't save both... I dunno, think "Sophie's choice"! LOL OR you could simplify the question, do without all the complicated settings and go straight to the dilemma: could you possibly value the life of a pet more than the life of a person that is described as a "loser"? I don't have an answer to that one.

I never used coloring books. I just liked to connect the dots. "Oh! It's the Eiffel Tower!" It was a bit of a non-answer, but I suppose I can get a D for the effort? LOL

See? The question was there in front of you, all the time. I knew you'd figure it out. As a kid, I bet you never colored outside the lines, did you? ;) Just kidding! :) Thanks for your answer. :)

Well I would certainly hate to be in that position but I would have to say my roommate. I have to put a higher value on human life. I know some of you may beat me up for saying that but that's just my beliefs.

No one's gonna beat you up. There are no right or wrong answers to the question.

I'll definitely save my roommate. I can still raise another cat but i cant raise another friend. What friends are for anywayz?!

I would save my cat. I love my cats. They are more loyal than a roommate. She/He can save her/his self. They'll get out with a few scratches and burns. They won't die. The cat could die because it would hide from the fire and think it was safe.

I would pick my cat up and yell to the room mate to get up and get out because the house is on fire as I was running out!! Duh, my cat! She's a lazy pothead! Mean but true!!

i would save the cat, if the room mate is a total twozarc then why should i care about them, the insurance would get you repairs on the house and the fire would get rid of the annoying house mate and you keep your loyal faithful cat

Definately my cat no question about it! It being my cat she would be so freaked at not knowing what is going on she would not survive on her own for sure! THEN maybe if I had enough time would go back and TRY and save my roommate! But obviously it would be too late as the house has already burnt to the ground, well at least I tried!

I am sorry...I would have to choose to save the roommate. This could change the roommate life and outlook towards life! This could inspire the roommate to become a fire fighter and in turn, save more lives. Even though I loved the cat and would be heart broken to loose the cat...I would still hope for the best that the cat would follow me out while dragging my roommate's butt.

Well, assuming the roommate can save him/herself, I'd save the cat. The roommate can run for safety while the cat is a little more helpless. If the roommate's asleep or something, just wake 'em up and tell 'em to run! LOL

Substituting dog for cat, as I am allergic to cats, I would save my dog hands down. My pet is helpless without me. A person is responsible for themselves.
