I have been with my Dh for almost 3 years and of that time I have spent about 2 1/2 years sleeping on the couch. He snores sooo bad and I am a light sleeper so needless to say we don't spend much time in the bed together. It got so bad while I was pregnant that I actualy slept in the car a few nights. At the time we were in a small travel trailer and there was no where to go to escape the noise. What do you do when your spouse snores so bad you can't sleep?

Oh boy do I know what you mean. My husband falls asleep before me, it never fails and I lay there for so long trying to sleep...sometimes I wake him up and pray that when he falls back asleep he won't snore, or at least not until I'm asleep. I've adjusted his pillows thinking that might help, it doesn't. I think I've done everything short of smothering him. I know that sounds awful, but I honestly don't know what to do either. Has he tried breathe right strips or any sprays? Maybe he has mild sleep apnea. Does he stop breathing at all in his sleep? I think that I'm going to make an appointment for my husband to have a sleep study done. My dad did and ended up having surgery so that he wouldn't snore anymore. It seemed to work for him. Hope that helps. :)

He had severe sleep apnea. He did a sleep study and he stopped breathing 91 times a minute and his oxygen went down to 68. He just had surgery to remove his tonsils and trim his palet. It's amazing. I now wake up in the middle night to see if he's going to come to bed and find that he's already there!

Wow! That is pretty crazy. I'm glad he found out what's wrong and the snoring has stopped. I had a sleep study done over a year ago because I was having the worst time getting to sleep, staying asleep and I blamed it mostly on my husband. Well, come to find out I had severe sleep apnea. Those test results you guys received sounded all too familiar to me. I was put on a CPAP and I'm doing great. Now if only my husband could stop snoring...:)

LOL...christieswebb, you're not alone in having to deal with this snoring issues. My husband snores terribly too and sometimes, I wonder if he is snoring or just plain singing. We've been married for 8 years now and I had somehow got used to his snoring. I think I have to deal with his snoring for the next 8 years or so. I can't give you much idea of what you should do. I can't tell you to put on cotton or something in your ears. You will just learn to get use to his snoring.

I sleep on the couch due to my snoring not his. He needs the good night sleep. I even went to the Dr. and was put on a machine to help me, but take it off without knowing in the middle of the night.

My husband snores too. Found out that his snoring was caused from sleep apena. Now he has to wear a BIPAP machine anytime he sleeps. He still snores some but not like he did. His snoring even woke him up. LOL
