When people ask you for your sun sign, they are just asking what was the sun's position to the earth when you were born. That position changes about every 28 days. Ah, but where were the other planets when you were born? How many degrees of their orbit had passed? How does the orbit of all the planets, not just the sun affect your life? Where was the moon? Where was Mars? The sun might have been in Aries when you were born but Mars might have been in Libra. So, what difference would this make? Each planet affects a different aspect of your life and personality. For example, the sun affects your overall personality, what people see on the surface. The moon affects your inner emotion. Mars affects your basic temperment, your ambition and drive. And so on through the other planets. So, if the sun was in Aries when you were born, on the surface you may seem impulsive, aggressive, a real go-getter. But if Mars was in Libra when you were born, you would probably not have the quick temper that Aries tend to have. So, you see, you have to take in all accounts in order to get a grasp on the science of astrology. It is not just the sun. It is all the other planets, their rate of travel, their geometry with the earth and other planets, etc..
