I have a few friends who were on a diet. This is what I'd observed. They tend to get short-tempered easily.. Is this true? If so. can anyone tell me what is causing them to act that way? Is it due to lack of sugar or carbohydrates intake?

Most people tend to undereat when they're dieting, and that causes their blood sugar to become too low. This tends to make people cranky. Instead, they should be eating every 3-4 hours to keep their metabolism high, but making sure that what they're eating is high quality, high nutrient, low calorie foods.

Yes, you're exactly right! You need to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your body happy! But it's not only eating anything that makes your body happy, it's teh types of foods you consume that matter. They should be eating 2 times the amount of proteins as carbohydrates! For instance, a great snack would be, 1 one ounce string cheese and an apple, the cheese for protein and the apple for carbs! It also depends on what kinds of carbs you're consuming, too. Instead of consuming breads and rices they should be eating foods with "good carbs" such as apples, pears, peaches, pretty much any fruit! Good proteins would be turkey or chicken slices (like sandwich meat), all types of beans, raw nuts, things like that! As long as they balance out their meals they shouldn't get too grumpy! It's easier to balance out your meals and snacks than you think!
