Does anyone remember the tense scene in the movie Lawrence of Arabia wherein Peter smokes away his worries and speaking out thus :' Please leave me alone'....

Ah, one of my favorite moments in the movies. Peter O'Toole is the most wonderful actor - he portrayed fear and anger in a way that I had never before seen it - real, up front, scary, twitching, and in agony. I recently watched "Lord Jim" and was once again torn to pieces by just one look. He's marvelous, inspiring, and delightful. You must also see (if you haven't seen it already) "The Ruling Class". It's a black comedy musical that will freak you out completely. Better than his performances in "My Favorite Year" and "The Mouse That Roared". Oh, yes, I'm an O'Toole fan right down to the very fiber of my being. I adore the fellow. Did you see him on The Academy Awards? I though for sure they'd give him an award, but then, he did get some "Life Achievement Award" last year. His speech was awe-inspiring and well rehearsed - his humor still sparkles. My favorite moment in "Lawrence" is probably the bar scene, when he's returned from the desert and orders lemonade...good god, I couldn't breath when I watched that for the first time. Do tell us more about your favorite O'Toole moment... What did it really mean for you?

I don't remember that particular scene, but I do seem to remember a crappy ending to the show. If I remember right, after all he went through in Arabia, didn't he die in a motorcycle accident back home? It just didn't seem to make much sense to me. Kind of like a waste I guess. But hey. It is just a movie after all. Or was actually based on a real person?
