How do you relieve stress?

You're working on something, you're not quite into it, the deadline is close and you feel the tension growing all over! Can you relate to this? How do you relieve this stress? Sometimes I try to distract myself for a little while (fix myself a drink, take a nap, watch a movie, surf the web, take a walk...), but lately I just end up procrastinating and when I realize I've wasted more time than I could afford, the stress strikes back twicefold! (Oh no!) Anyone have any quick and easy solutions for stress relief?

When I need to relieve stress and get my head back in order I will either cvome to mylot and vent or I will crochet. My bestfriend recently taught me to do some basic stitches for crocheing and I already have 1 blanket almost done and starting another one.

I think the stress is bcoz of our thinking. Most of us want to achieve what we are working for to get the best result. The more we desire, the more we will feel the stress. So, we should either lower down the target or think more positively. Coz stress never get us anywhere.

I'm not ready to let go of my desires (and fears) yet ;) Goodbye nirvana! But that's a bit true. On the other hand, you have to do SOMETHING in life, and whatever it is you do, you're very likely to have a deadline or a goal and working towards it can be a source of stress, don't you agree?

I tried welding once, I cannot begin to describe how stressful it was! I convinced myself that I was a terrible welder and gave up before I welded myself to something ;) But I think it was partially the fault of the equipment (yeah, that's it ;). Having quality tools is vital sometimes.

I like to enjoy a yummy cup of coffee while reading a great book or magazine, or take a warm bath while reading a great book or magazinw- both are equally realxing to me and I love the few moments when I am able to do it!

I only shower, I haven't taken a bath, like soaking in the bath tub, in years! Also, my bathroom is tiny, it's not the most relaxing place on earth! LOL It's more of a functional place. But if I had a nice, large, comfortable bathroom, I'd probably do that :)

Sounds to me like you did your "relaxing" while you were procrastinating. Maybe learn some time management? I am married to the world's worst procrastinator and it drives me nuts. He waits till the day tax stuff has to be mailed to pull it out and work on it, and it puts my stomach in knots. I could have done it months before and offered but he was too busy playing computer games- drives me nuts. Sorry I am no help.

Yes, procrastinating can be relaxing, but then reality catches up and it's even worse! I'm a bit like your husband. But I try to make the effort not to leave everything till the last moment.
