Is it good to use baking soda in cooking??

I am just wonder about using baking soda. Is it causes any health problems .I just wanted to know pros and cons ?

I've never heard of anything bad about baking soda or any ill health effects from using it to cook with. I love baking soda and use it for cooking and cleaning.
