My Grandmother always made "CandleStick Salads" For us when we were kids. How she made it was quite simple... lettuce leaf laying on a plate. Take a pineapple ring and lay in center of leaf. Then Take 1/2 of peeled banana and stand upright in ring. cut just a little tip off the top so you can put a cherry on it. She would drizzle a little of the cherry juice (she used marachino cherries) down the banana to look like melted wax. They were so much fun to eat! Do you have any strange but memorable recipes from when you were a kid?

Oh what a precious idea! My grandmother did something cool, but it didn't have a name. She would peel a banana and put it on a popcicle stick. She then spread peanut butter onto the banana and then rolled it into crushed corn flakes. I soooo loved those banana sticks (that is what I always called them). She sometimes then dipped the banana sticks into chocolate that she had melted in a double broiler and then froze them. Dear goodness they were really good that way...but that was an extra special treat reserved for when she could afford the chocolate!

I haven't tried those, but I hear they are good. Those memories are so precious, aren't they?

What a fantastic idea! I am going to try this for my daycare children (and my own children too, of course). They will think it is great fun. It does sound a bit sticky though, so I might save this for a day we are planning to run through the sprinkler. lol

That's so cute. I never tried it but it's a great idea for getting kids to eat fruits and veggies.
