Recently My 21' Fujitsu Siemens MCM 212V Monitor went dead. Luckily I had some spare cash from working last vacation, so I went out and bought a 19' AMW X1900DS LCD monitor. Apart from the evident contrast ( the old 21' crt was 6 years old ) between the two, the CRT weighing 26 kilos while the LCD only about 4... what other differences are there?I personnaly, after using the new LCD for a couple of weeks find it to be much more clearer and brighter. The viewing angle is not a problem, my room being small as it is, and the visible surface is as big is, if not even bigger, than the CRT's. Also, I noticed that HD movies look much greater on the new one. What do you prefer? CRT or LCD? And why?

I prefer CRT. I don't like LCD at all. LCD can offer better resolution, but it's all blur and colors don't seems to be very accuracy. If you have space to put a CRT I think is the best option.

:) It's true that not many liquid cristal monitors live up to the standars of the Aged CRT, but nowadays, you can find LCD monitors with better response time, contrast and resolution, than most CRT models.

Yes Sony is a good manufacturer, both LCD's and other products. When I got my LCD, I really wanted one as big as my last monitor, so I got this 19' AMW. I could have settled for something smaller and with a little renown... But anyway I have a 3 year warranty on it so I'm not all that worried. :)

If you ask about preference: definitely i'll choose LCD. The very base reason why i choose LCD, i doesn't takes much space like CRT.

I know, that's a good reason to choose LCD. Now that I have one, I can finally use my desk! :D Not kidding... with the old crt I only had about 20 cm of space for writing and stuff like that...
