I thought that the movie Norbit was pretty good. I watched it twice and I even bought the soundtrack. I don't think it was that bad of a movie and I think it is ok the Eddie Murphy did it. What do you think of the movie?

my review: They say Eddie Murphy lost his chance at an Oscar for Dream Girls thanks to his crude comedy Norbit. So could it be true? Directed by Brian Robbins Norbit is another comedy in which they can gleefully promote it as starring: Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy, and Eddie Murphy. Norbit is a mild-mannered lovable dork who marries an obese and monstrous woman of villain stature. First one must tackle the criticism and rumors already flying about the film. Critics accuse Norbit of being a shallow and single-tracked fat joke and in-turn a sexist piece of trash. Supposedly it was the release of Norbit that tarnished his Oscar hopes. However, like most radical causes attacking creative comedy I must side against popular criticism on this one. Yes, the bad girl is very fat and there are continuous gags to take advantage of that situation, but they make the character very clear in the fact that she is a bad person because she is a bad person and NOT because she is fat. People who should take offense to this film, should therefore be evil people, right? Eddie Murphy does a fine job with his transformations and characters, and all of the acting fits right for the film. Eddie Griffen and Marlon Wayans have the most enjoyable bit parts and made me chuckle. The only casting decision I do not agree with was that of Thandie Newton. She really didn’t seem like the same little girl that Norbit played with as a child. The plot for the film is not new formula, therefore even with some of the more humorous gags one isn’t going to find themselves exactly cheering for this movie. An okay time is to be had if one will just take themselves and life lightly when it comes to the comedic realm of film in this instance. Eddie Murphy shouldn’t be getting accosted for his portrayal of fat women any more now than he did when portraying the Klumps for the popular Nutty Professor Series; which I hated. A couple of laughs and good production, but forgettable without the controversy. Norbit is a quiet, one time chuckle overall.

I thought he did a great job on it myself. That is great that he wrote it and played all of the parts that he played.
