A good resume states the job position you are looking for, some information about your experience and any training you may have. This letter is to get the hiring managers attention so that he or she will want to read your resume. The last paragraph should be a request for an interview. I have had mixed results with cover letters. I have written very organized to the book cover letters and had okay results. I have sent in resumes with a quick two or three line cover letter on a fax letter head and had call back immediately. My advice is to keep your cover letter short and to the point. A perspective employer doesn't want a full page cover letter, they want to know what job you are interested in and if you qualify.
