Annoyed with over priced shipping on Ebay?

I like to both buy and sell on Ebay. Because of the way that Ebay now chrges for their fees, many sellers have went to very low prices and charge shipping charging that is more than the item and the shipping together is worth. This must be ok with Ebay, but as a buyer, it makes it hard when you are searching for a bargin. As a seller, it annoys me because I try to as fair as possible, but I lose sells to sllers who list such a low price because many buyers do not pay any attention to the shipping until after they win. Does this practice on over priced shipping annoy anyone else?

I sell on ebay and I also buy there, but I am very careful about checking the shipping price before I bid on an item. If I don't feel that it is fair, I don't bid. We have to take into consideration that the shipping price listed includes more than just the actual cost of postage. It includes packaging and taking the item to the post office or ups store and waiting in line to ship the item. When I put up an auction, I never just quote a price for shipping alone. I state that it is for shipping and handling. I guess the answer to being annoyed with over-priced shipping is to just figure out if it is worth it to you. If not, skip that auction.

Thanks for your response and I agree with normal shipping and handling and am not against anyone making a profit, but many people get a sour taste for Ebay because they did not read the fine print and did not expect such high shipping charges. This hurts the whole market. I believe that an item should be fairly listed with a fair shipping and handling charge and let the buyer purchase the item at the value and not pay for the item as a shipping charge. Thansk for your reply

Shipping costs also include the costs of the packaging. A lot of people forget that it's not just the postage charges that have to be paid, the packaging has to be bought and paid for too. Bubble wrap, tissue, padded envelopes etc., they all cost money. In the UK we also have a new postage system which includes the size of the package, not just the weight, so it all adds up.

I am not talking about normal cost to do business, I am talking about when you get a $20 item and it is listed for $1.99 but the shipping is $39.95 and it weighs less than 1 pound. Adding for packaging is normal trying to make your money just on the shipping charge should not be. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, it annoys me. It looks as though it is a good deal until, like you say, you see the shipping is more than the item. Some sellers have crazy standard shipping rates. I won't buy from them. It's outrageous.
