One of the DONT'S is...DON'T THANK EVERYONE THAT RESPONDS OR COMMENTS ON YOUR DISCUSSION! This will not increase your earnings. I couldn't believe it when I read this because I do thank everyone! Just curious how many others also thank everyone/some/or none at all? I probably will keep on doing it because I enjoy communicating with fellow mylotters. What do others think?

I will keep thanking those who respond to my discussions and I will also leave a comment after their responses. It doesn't matter to me whether I get paid for it or not. Good manners and courtesy are more important than earning a cent or two and I will continue to thank people regardless of what myLot says.

i think it's just fair that our moderators let us know that thanking everyone won't increase our ratings. some people expect so. so, it's good for them to let us know about it. i do thank people but can't thank everyone. i mean, i think and believe that all members who respond to my discussions know how thankful i am that they took effort to read and respond to my discussions. but most of the time, i add comments and even too long ones. just like you, i love to keep the discussions going.

Yes your right I didn't looked at it that way (that they should let us know about the earnings). I just found it odd to be under the don't section and here just about every one is doing it LOL! Thanks maryanne

I could be wrong but I took that as Mylot just saying that is of no benefit financially to thanks everyone for a response but I could be wrong, I like to try and answer in some way if not to thank the person who responded but to continue the discussion as well...

Yes I think that's what they are reffering to here also. Thanks lilaclady! BTW I love your avatar ;)

I try to thank everyone, as they took the time to respond to my question. There are so many questions posted now, so its important to thank others for their time. When I don't have time to thank everyone, I will go answer one of the questions that the other member posted to show my appreciation when I see a question posted by them that I can post a quality type post.

That is an excellent solution to the time issue! Thanks Fishmomma!

by the looks of your pretty blue star your thanking people does help your ratings :) perhaps mylot means that your replies to posts should not be "only" thank-yous, but if you are making a reply it is not wrong to add thank-you in it.

if you are not after the earnings, then it is perfectly okay to thank those who responded to your posts. i do that, too, out of gratitude to them and out of courtesy for sparing some time to respond to my posts and for that wonderful experience of being able to exchange or share ideas. although at times when there are so many replies already i am unable to thank all of them. but at least, doing my best, i find time to respond while i can.

Well I did start out for the earnings but then found it to be a wonderful warm community of people from all over the world. So now the earnings are just like a bonus to the friendships I have made and the solutions and ideas I have found. thanks shevamp!

i think this rule is open to interpritation. I too always thank everyone who replies but as part of a wider comment that i will make. In other words, i dont just thank i also try to enter discussion, blessed be

I only have a limited amount of time to spend in mylots every day, and some weeks, I don't even get to come here every day. There is no way to answer every post. I rate them all if I can, but cannot spend the time answering them all. I need to earn a few points for the time I spend here and answering your own discussions gets you nothing. If there is one or two really great answers, I will respond.

Ah yes you are right. People with limited time this would be a problem for them. Thanks estherlou!

Someone in this thread hit the nail on the head. The interpataion is meaning it won't increase your pay. What mylot refers to as far as responses is usually the cintext of it as a whole. Just a THANK YOU isn't going to help your star. But a thank you with reasons as to why they thank you helps with the star. The main reason for responding is other than gratitude ets is to boost your star rating. Thanks again for a thoughtful discussion. I will thank each post that I feel is of help one way or another to me. I don't thank every post I respond to either. Happy postings from Grandpa Bob

I think this is a note from MyLot that they don't pay posts like that. But I think it is ok for you to say that as a form of courtesy to the other member that replied to your post.

Well I'm one of those people who do thank people. I feel that we should. I guess if that was in the rules, I must have not seen it. Thank you for letting us know. I agree with you, I will probably also continue doing it.
