How many of you love to communicate through SMS on your mobile. If you are a SMS freek, how many SMSs do you send per day and per month to your relatives, friends etc. Do you feel sending SMS is one of the most effective method of communication.

it really helped me in one way or another.i got my mom that is in the US and my sister in other province so the cheapest way to communicate with them is by texting them.i have daily updates about them and it makes me feel closer to them, knowing that i can send a message anytime and they can respond quickly.it is also useful for emergency , like when you are stuck in a traffic, you can text that you'll be a little late or when you have car troubles, you can easily text someone for help.here in the pihilippines, filipinos are fond of sending texts quote, something to ponder for the day and whenever i receive one, i feel so important.:)well, the only advantage i see on SMS is the wrong spelling that we text, that's it.

Thanks Smille for sharing your views. I too think that SMS is an important part of today's life and if you send an SMS to someone, it is clear that he or she is being remembered by us. I use it frequently to keep in touch with my near and dear ones.

We have SMS here in the Philippines, and we're considered as one of the most users in sending SMS/text. In fact, we were once called as the texting capital of the world. For me, the average SMS that I send before was almost over a hundred. But I kind of toned down on doing it so, because I prefer more now my computer. But you are correct, sending SMS is really effective in terms of communicating. We could express our feelings that we cannot tell to someone who's special to us, by just sending it to them. It is also much easier in case an emergency ocuurs, and help is needed urgently.

mobile - SMS through mobile
I don't use SMS facility unless needed much. I usually don't messages any body...( friendship msgs., goodmorning msgs.)as my friends send to me. I never send back.(They don't mind too...instead I prefer to call) Only if I've to leave some imp. message, or number...I do. Regarding SMSs per day and per month..from last four months no message in my outbox.

Thanks Shilpaum for your frank and fair response. Sending an SMS or calling are two different modes and perhaps cannot be compared. Calling is no doubt better than SMS. However, if you do not have time to call e.g. you want to convey your wishes on someone's Birthday say early in the morning (6.00 AM), in that case you can safely send an SMS, and whenever possible the other person will read it. But it you call at 6.00 AM, that fellow might not be in a position to receive your call. Its purely my personal opinion, am not sugggesting you to adopt it. Thanks

SMS on the mobile is not my cup of tea, I am slow with it, needed to look at the button to type and the mobile phone button is too small for me to handle. SMS is like Instant Messaging on the go, I could not keep up with the speed of the conversation. And alway behind in term of relying I hardly SMS more than 100 per months. SMS loose the personal touch with the person that you are SMS. I would rather pick up the phone and call. Unless, I am in the meeting and need some information, that will be helpful.

Oh i used to be a texting or sms addict. The type who text all day long. I can even memorize the keypads already. I can text without looking at the phone to know what i am typing.:P Txt is just a cheap way to commnuicate. It only cost 1peso here in the Philippines compared to calling which is like 5pesos or 8 :)

Hi dpk, I am not a mobile phone freak and SMS or text messages as it is called in some countries is not on my top priority. I recently recharged my phone with 500 rs recently and got 200 free sms and i still have 194 left even after 2 months. I had GPRS long time back because i had a very close friend in USA with whom i would send emails whole day just like sms ( as it is free this way) and i could send her about 100 to 200 emails a day.
