Would John Lennon have been happy with the state of rock n' roll today?

If, hypothetically, John Lennon had not been brutally murdered on the 8th of December, 1980...what do you think he would make of Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and all that lot...not to mention Nirvana and 90's pop?

I'm not sure about how happy John Lennon will be if he would be alive. Maybe he will wander how the rock changed during all these years. Now, 30 years later, the rock-metal music acts in different way. The sound is stronger, also there are lots of bands showing in the media. Maybe he'll wonder how many people are respecting and continuing his way now. And, of course, it's possible that all the commerce that occur would grab him. But I don't believe this! John Lennon is important part of rock history and he better stay where he is now. He's inspiration! I'll always remember the line " Imagine all the people sharing all the world! You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one! I hope someday you'll join us, And the world will live as one! " Just great!

I think John would encourage anyone to go ahead and express themselves in any way that they feel. He would be curious and interested in listening to all the music, not as a critic but,as a musician and artist. I think he just wanted us all to live happy lives, doing whatever we feel is right for us. I think he would find the newer music interesting and unusual.

I think he would have kept up with his style of singing knowing. I think he would have been happy knowing millions would still like his music.

WELCOME TO MYLOT!!! EXCELLENT question by the way!!! Since John was for FREEDOM of speech & practically everything else, I think he'd admire the artists you mentioned. With that being said, I also think the music we listen to today would be MUCH different because it would have still had his influence. Yes, John's music would have changed over the last 20 years (hard to believe that it's been that long) ,but it would still have had a BIG influence over the what would have come out during those 20 years. My heart gently weeps as I ponder over what John would be like today had he lived!!!
