I'm Hungry!

I do not know if it is just me or what. Or maybe my daughter is going through a growth spurt but she is 3yrs old and she is constantly hungry. Seriously within a few minutes of eating a meal she says, "Mommy I'm hungry, really hungry!" She will do this all through the day. I do not let her eat all the time and I give her snacks that are healthy. I just don't understand. Does anyone else's child do this? Or is it just me?

my daughter is 3 years old but on the contrary, she is very difficult to feed. i wish my daughter does what your daughter is doing. i am having the hard time convincing her to eat her meals coz she just loves to play and play and tends to forget her meals. although, sometimes, she may feel hungry and would want to eat all the time. i think it is just part of growing up. just provide her enough space after each meal if she do gets hungry and you are right about giving her healthy snacks...

This is my son!!! I'm not the only one!!! My child is a picky eater and he is, what I call, a grazer also. He has days where he can eat and eat and eat...then there are those days, like today, when I'm lucky to get a bowl of oatmeal down him.

My daughter goes through these stages too - and it really worried me the first few times it happened. It seemed as though she ate and ate and ate, and would just keep eating if I didn't put a stop to it...and then, of course, there's the mommy guilt when your child is asking for food and you say no. *sigh* Ultimately, she did this for a few months and then slowly started backing off until she was eating a more reasonable amount at each meal. And now we're to the point where I have to beg her to eat breakfast at all, and lunch and dinner is always reasonable. Her pediatrician assured me that kids just do this and it's perfectly normal, although it's certainly irritating to deal with day in and day out. Hang in there - this too shall pass!

That is good that you are careful about how much you feed her, regardless how hungry she may be feeling. You may need to consult with a physician to see if this is normal at an early age like that or if she may need some kind of medication to control the appetite. Sounds like you are a great mommy and take good care of your daughter by giving her healthy snacks and not feeding her too often.

I think your daughter might be growing through a growth spurt. I know my son goes through them and it seems he is never satisfied when he does. Just make sure you feed her healthy food and snacks.

My son is three and he is doing the same thing. I'm hungry, right after dinner or something. I agree with the first one, make sure she eats healthy things, or maybe give her a little extra water from time to time. That might help.

This maybe due to the nature of herself. Some only take a single meal a day! For a 3yr old, she should be taking solid food. Try giving her more rice but do not overfeed. Many small feeds are better. However, if she constantly active and jumping about, it is ok as she is using more energy than normal. If not, seek advice from the doctor
