What's your opinion about personhood?

what do you think are the characteristic that makes us different from other animals?and when do you think it begins?(e.g. at conception, implantation...etc..)
this is actually connected to an abortion project that i'm doing, and some opinions would be nice.
PS : this also an ethical issue, but i decided to start this thread in this section anyways.

I guess that one of our main differences from other animals is that we DO have a sense of badness. That is, human being can know that something is wrong and we still do it.
I guess others animals when they do something wrong they are not concious of that.
Going to the start of life for me is at conception.
