Well 2 days ago my laptop crashed and I have just finished re-installing everything for the most part. the keyboard drivers craped out and I had no access at all to revert back to a previous restore point. I was lucky as I was able to save everything and had no data loss just a lot of work reinstalling everything. I am now doing regular backup's and have located a free backup program that I will now be using on a regular basis. What would you do? would you just wipe everything clean would you loose all your data?

You could backup to the internet if you have a fast enough internet connection. Other alternatives include: -Backing up to another computer on your network -Using RAID 1 (probably not on a laptop) -Using some kind of portable media (such as USB drive, CD, DVD)

I have 4 computers here on a home network. What I did was reinstall xp on a seperate directory other than the main windows directory then used my network and backed up all my stuff to another computer then did a clean install.

I never really had this problem myself, so I cant recommend something firsthand, but check Download.com for some backup software. They have programs that automatically back up your computer. Also, if you buy a external hard drive, most of them come with backup software. Good luck!
