I started using an herbal de-wormer for my goats in October 2006 and absolutely love it! Does anyone else use an herbal de-wormer or any herbal product on their goats? Since starting the herbal de-wormer I haven't used any antibiotics or vaccines on my animals with wonderful results. I would love to meet up with some people who use herbal stuff for their animals (or themselves!) so we can swap information.

My mom has goats down at her place and she started using the herbal dewormer from Hoegger Goat Suuply about 2 years ago. It's worked so much better than any of the commercial ones any of us ever tried getting for them (they were up at our farm for awhile). With the commercial ones we had to rotate out what brands were used constantly and even then we ended up having the works and parasites develop immunities to it all. The vets were telling us that especially in rainy years we were ending up wit "super parasites" that were immune to just about any of the commercial wormers available. She started them on the herbal wormer and hasn't had a problem in 2 years plus she doesn't have to rotate types or any of the other problems we were having. The type she uses just gets added to their food every day and they love it. None of the messy business of having to shove it down their throat only to have gunk spit back out at you and hope they got enough.

It's so nice to hear of another positive reaction to the herbal medicines. I am a firm believer in building up healthy immune systems so that we can fight off infections or, in this case, infestations! Our goats, too, love the herbal stuff, it is their weekly treat. I also love the peace of mind, knowing this is working and not having to go through a list of chemicals and trying to decide what to use next.

I agree completely. And it's so much cleaner since you don't have to worry about a goat not liking it and spitting that nasty paste back at you. Blech!

I had never heard of an herbal dewormer before. I didn't know there was such. I looked into the link you gave and saw it can be used on cats and dogs as well. I'm going to have to look into this some more but I'd much rather use an herbal one then one with chemicals. Thank you for letting me know on this.

No problem, I love to turn people on to the whole herbal thing. I, too, think it is much safer and I use the herbal de-wormer for all my animals.

I use one from Heaggers Supply ( I know I spelled their name wrong). It is a top dress that is used twice a day for three days, then once a week from then one. I really like it and it is really economical. It's their brand. It takes the goats a couple of uses to get used to the aroma and the taste. It has a very pungent odor, and I can only imagine the taste.
