Have you been so desperate for money you'd consider doing anything?

I'm between a rock and a hard place now...I'm out of money (cash) to pay my bills and I can get the money I need...but in three weeks or more? I really detest family and friends who say "oh I'm so broke" when they've got a secret stash or both are working...I'm talking down to my last few bucks in my account and bills are piling up kind of broke. I'm racking my brains right now for some quick cash--any ideas? PS--this is more for people in the US, but any ideas are welcomed.

Have you joined your local Freecycle http://freecycle.org/groups/ There is usual a local forum where you can ask for ideas on where to go for help

I moderated quite a few freecycle forums...but driving all over the place when gas is over $2.50 around here isn't worth it. I've just gotten a new job that works around my business schedule, so things aren't quite so bad.

Just about .. I spent a whole year with no earnings once .. I walked around the town on crutches through the winter looking for waste paper and wood to burn on my fire to keep warm (heheh we must have had the tidiest town ever after I'd walked round!) .. I used to go to the twice weekly market and beg for 'bruised' fruit and vegetables for my fictional parrot .. so I pretty much lived on fruit and vegetable soup that year .. I haunted the supermarkets for when the ladies came round doing demonstrations .. I sat in the library most of the winter in the day time to keep warm and read the newspapers .. I collected all the bottles that had a refund on them and took back to the pibs and supermarkets (not sure they still do that though) .. and I would help anyone or do anything for a free feed and a cup of coffee .. Getting cash was much harder though .. I wrote to everysingle person I owed money to and asked them to be patient and to stop the interest on any payments until I was able to start paying again .. Do you have a financial 'shop' or FREE financial advisory clinic where they can help you ?? They are wonderful people and always help you to make the most of every single penny (or cent) that you have .. and can you not get more help from the government as 'special hardship' or something .. I do wish you luck .. and I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful to you !

God saved me yesterday--I'm ok for the moment. My local supermarket closed down about a year ago--now it's 2 1/2 miles away (well, any supermarket is at least 2+ miles away). Considering the price of gas, I'd be better off hitting the food closets locally. The library is a good idea...but it smells (and that I'm NOT lying about!) We don't do cash refunds for bottles here :( The government wants me to have a household size of 6 or more--I'm too old to have that many kids now! And we don't have a free financial advisory service--everything costs money now! But I will take the bill conversation under advisement. Thanks for the tips!

Do you have some old clothes that are in good condition that you could ebay? I've noticed people there like large lots of stuff. Just take a picture of all the items, box them up and sell them all in one throw to make hassle minimal. Of course this works for other things that you don't want anymore. People love big grab bags of good stuff.

Thank you, but I couldn't pay the bill if it doesn't sell (plus I'm not sure I'd have enough to pay the shipping until it gets in my account). I'll consider trying it--have any suggestions on where to start on eBay for me to research? Thanks!

Its funny you post this though because a month or so ago I was approched by a man who works for one of the exotic dance clubs in the big city 2 hours away from where we lived. I was dacing with some girlfriends when he gave me his card and told me to call him if i was looking for some serious money. At that point I realised I preferd my dignity over money!

I wish I could help you :( my partner and I are in the same boat as well. We were in quite a mess in 2005 where at one stage we lived for three weeks without power. It was the most horrible time foro both of us. All I can think of is register to heaps of survey sites. One of my friends on here gave me this site http://earn-home.blogspot.com/ It has heaps of friendly free U.S survey sites. I really do hope things get better for you.
