To Love or To Be In Love???

What is the basic difference between loving someone and begin in love with the person?

When you are in love you are crazy about the person, really crazy and can't keep your hands of him or her. When you love someone it's more a deep felt respect and warm feeling. You can have love for your friends and family, but you can't be in love with them (well not legally :-p)
