Today our youth wants independence and they are engrossed in their own world. They dislike when their elders interfere in their matters to advise them. What should our youngsters do?Should they respect thm and get advice for their ultimate benefit or just be rude?

it depends. times have indeed changed. some elders think that what they are before are what the young people are right now. young people need guidance, but at the same time they should learn from their mistakes. let them be accountable for their actions, give the freedom they need.. elders sometimes go too far on being strict and it comes to the point that they treat teens as prisoners

the problem with a lot of people is that they just never learn to shut up and listen. In the terms you are talking about, all it takes is for a 'kid' to keep their mouth shut and listen to the 'elder'. No one ever says you have to take their advice. But it doesn't hurt anyone to listen. Never let your additude get in the way of learning. It's something I have learned and it's something everyone should learn.

Well, first of all being rude shouldn't even be an option not only with elders but with anyone. It's just not a good way of communication. Secondly, young people really should respect the elders. They should at least listen to their advice and, after thinking about it, in the end they're free to do whatever they want. But they should at least think that the elders have had most of these experiences themselves and they have the hindsight that is the best teacher :P Not to mention when those elders are a young person's parents or grandparents. Meaning they raised him or her and want what's best for him or her. The least the youngster could do is listen to what they say and show them respect. Call me old fashioned but that's how I feel about it. (if you're wondering about my age I am 25 so I do know what it's like to be young :P but still)
