Do Men Belong in the Delilvery Room?

When my son was born some 30 years ago it was allowed for men to be in the delivery room.
I sort of have mixed feelings about it. I really felt that I did not belong there amongst all those doctors and nurses.
Sure it was pretty amazing to see my son born, but it would have been just as amazing to hold him an hour or two after he was born.
Also, what if something went wrong? If you have a husband in the delivery room who might freak out, there could be real problems.
When my daughter was born two years later we were in a different city and they did not allow husbands in the delivery room.
I had no problem with that. It was just as amazing to me when my daughter was born and I got so see her in less than an hour later.
How do you feel about it? I'd love to hear from men and women of course............

yes, i was really happy when my hubbie was there for both our kids, the support and comfort. the look on his face when they came to this world. he was the first to hold them and he was very prude.

My husband and I both wanted him to be in the delivery room when our kids were born. He wanted to be there for the second birth, but he missed it as he was right outside of the hospital when I gave birth. If I get a chance to give birth again my husband really wants to be there to experience it and of course I want him to be there for moral support. We wouldn't want it any other way.

I would definitely want the father of the baby there especially as I'm scared of hospitals and such. If I'm going to go through all that pain and inconvenience the least he could do is be there and offer some moral support.
