I have a story to share around here.It is as real as any pain can be. As an introduction,I will say that I have 3 sisters. This story is about what happened to my dearest sister. After trying to get pregnant for 7 years in a row,she finally did it.It was the happiest moment ever. The pregnancy went well, but giving birth......horrible.This was what happened: After her water broke,my brother in law went to the hospital with her. Here,in Romania, husbands or relatives are not allowed to assist at the child's birth,so my brother in law went to phone-call all the family and left my sister in the hands of the doctor who was on guard that night. It was 2 a.m. At 9.30 A.M. my mother came to me,desperate:there was a problem...my sister couldn't give birth the natural way, she needed a caesarean procedure(the baby was 4,5 kilos and 56 cm)...and the doctor said that he is not doing that unless we pay him an extra 300 Euro (as bribe) untill 10 a.m and there was no time for any of them to go home and get some money(they live 30 km from the hospital). At 9.45 I was at the hospital WITH the money.I gave the doctor the money. It was wrong, but I didn't quite have a choise, did I? The doctor made the operation at 11 a.m.The days went by and my sister returned home with a big ugly scar.I found out what really happened only after 8 month: that doctor called another doctor(while my sister was conscious) and said this lovely words: "You look at her too, then tell me if we make that operation or not. It's your decision.Anyway either she will die, either the baby." My soul is one more time turned apart while I am writing this. She and her beautiful baby survived. But that operation was made by a butcher! After 3 years, her scar is still visible, and has that pink-violaceous color. She can no longer wear clothes that she likes becouse the operation was made vertical! And my sister didn't let me sue that doctor!Could any of you tell me why? I don't know how could you comment this. But feel free to do it,if you find words...I am left without any possible words as I went back in time. All I have is a lot of anger and tears in my eyes. But it feels good sharing it with people who know the meaning of compassion. Thank you.

Dear, Tammuz, I can't tell you why your sister didn't let you sue the doctor for the terrible scar that was left on her abdomin. Maybe she's just very, very glad to be alive with her health and beautiful child. Maybe she just wants to go on with her life and forget the past pain. I also believe that what she wants most of all is for you to forgive and forget the doctor for your health's sake because unforgiveness breeds disease and stress in you body. I imagine that each time your sister sees the pain and anger in your eyes and face it reminds her of the pain that she wants to so desperately forget. So please for her sake forgive. Another suggestion if you and your fellow country persons could change the laws in your nation to allow husbands and family members to be in the delivery room with their wives that would be very helpful for the woman giving birth. Even though it's too late for your sister something good still could come from her catastrophe. Recieve God's mercy.

Thank you for your compassion. I try to hide my anger and pain from her.Although I don't know good I am hiding my feelings. I agree with the changing laws. They allow husbands or relatives here only in some clinics. But the nearest clinic where they allowed that was 300 km away. And my sister gave birth 2 weeks earlier. Thank you, once more, for your compassion, solidarity and advices.

oh, its really very very sad, i never imagined that professional doctors who are responsible for serving people and for caring can do such a horrible thing, well i personally feel they have done this for money, and who knows whether this operation was required or not. my sister-in-law had a normal delivery, the baby was about 4.5 kilos. your sister is kind enough to spare them but there will be many others who will suffer in the similar way. i think she should have taken action against them, its very unkind on their part and their profession doesnt allows it.

yes i understand, because she wants to forget that horrible experience, doctors here too in india abort girl children or sometimes while operation take out one of the kidneys, but they are sued by government.

She didn't take any action because she was anxious and glad to get out of the hospital and never hear about that doctor again. I would've sue him if I was in her place. My sister couldn't undergo natural delivery becouse she didn't dilated enough. She ended up with wounds because the baby was "trying to get out" and a caesarian. She went through such a terrible experience...*sigh*

Why do they take out kidneys?

Uff...i've told you my opinion then ,regarding the acts of cruelty (malpraxis is just too easy to go with) that they did. Those "humans" should never ever practice again ."Sorry" for them but they would need to start all over again doing something else (maybe work in the morgue) but i'm more sorry that i couldn't do anything back then.
