Having Problems On your computer??

I need help... My dad has an IBM Thinkpad 600. Pentium II 300MHz 32 Mb of ram It has problem in its system board and memory... whenever i turn it on.. it doesn't boot.. says 'Error' with two options of scan and restart.. after scanning it reports error in system board and memory... i don't know what the problem is but i can tell you the error codes... it says 00173 00192 00163 00225 192 is for some fan error... 173 says that configuration data was lost... 225 is for unsupported memory module.. What i think is that memory has gone 'bad' one question is there... do laptop motherboards have a silver coin like bios battery?? responsible for losing the date and time configuration data. ON SCANNING TWO ERRORS ARE FOUND system board- DEV 001 ERR 91 FRU 3610 Memory DEV 002 ERR 83 FRU 2010

No laptops have a different battery system. The error you are facing can be due to a memory conflict or a part of the hardware going corrupt. I feel the mother board has some problem in it. I would advise you to go to the nearest computer showroom and give it in for serviceing.

By some problem I mean A very Serious Problem It is not at all advisable for you to switch it on as another component of the thinkpad might get spoilt.

Thanks for the information..... So what i have to do is to got the nearest vendor and say that this laptop is having some problem with the memory please repair this... isn't it....... that sounds easy!!

I know how to create viruses but it is not something that i would want anyone to start creating. It may be fun watching others computers crash but then again we are not interested in someone loseing their data for a laugh.

You may be having a virus by the name of Brontok.cc/brontok.a/Brontok.c.You will have to download AVG 7.5 free version and then scan your system. If Brontok is present then you will have to format your PC and then reinstall windows.
