Why are "polar bear" swimmers permitted to jump into freezing waters, couldn't they easily die from hypotherma?

Are we talking about real bears here? The body construction of the bears were made such that they could take extreme cold without getting affected in any way. The polar bears are white, so they blend with the all white surrounding nature and makes them quite difficult to spot. They have very thick hairs/fur which protects them even from extreme cold. This explains why they roam with ease around the polar ice caps and swim in those cold, cold water without experiencing any ill effect.
