I would give up smell first, then taste, then hearing. I wouldn't want to lose anything beyond that. I wonder if it is true that the other sense get stronger to compensate for the loss of one?

it's true, when you lose sight, you will depend more on touching and hearing, and those sense will get stronger when depending, thats way a dog has stronger sense of smell than people.

I could do without smell. I would want to keep my taste. Whats the point in eating if you cannot taste it. My touch, sight and hearing are also very inportant to me. I would hate to go without them. I wouldn't hurt my feeling if I went without smell.

OMG! do I really have to answer this question? I mean, I would love to keep all me senses together as they all serve their purpose...but if I REALLY need to give up one of them, I guess it would be the smell. why? I can't give up my sight coz i wanna see the beauty of the world around me...i can't give up touch either coz i wanna feel the sweet caresses of my partner and the kids that we'll have soon... and not my hearing too, coz i wanna hear and enjoy listening to the heartbeat of my girlfriend and when she'll be pregnant, i'll surely put my ears on his tummy so i can hear the haereat of our child inside... and lastly, i wouldn't want to eat without savoring the taste of the food am putting on my mouth..so not the taste... :P

Hmm... Good question. I think it still depends on how you grow up. For me, i was raised up as a person that wants to get involve on different things, love music, love eating, appreciate beauty, and definitely enjoy having the sense of touch. I just cant imagine losing one sense. But again, if i am to ask; I will also have to go to my sense of smell...I think, that would affect my taste, but again...i still will live and enjoy life. Good for my health as well, coz, i can decline eating foods that are not healthy for the body without regret.

well sense is kind of important to me since if i can't smell well i most likely can't taste.. don't you guys know the trick where you plug your nose and eat... that works :P Taste? Well i really... REALLY love food, i can' really say i'd give this one up for the world.. Touch? Well if i want to feel the complexion of objects and know what an item is when i can't tell what it is, i need it :P Sight? REALLY REALLY NEED IT. whenever i think about my sight i say im lucky, i really love seeing beautiful sights. Hearing? Well i'd give this one up, i mean i don't really need it to do anything other than hear what people say, but why not just write it down :)

Perhaps is my sense of taste cuz since im not into food actually I could eat anything for as long as it says its healthy to the body and won't cause any damage.

Do you know that absence of smell dulls the taste? This is the reason why one who has colds finds food flat no matter how good it tastes supposedly. So how is that now? I think now that you would rather have all senses working over losing any one of them. Nonetheless, I will agree with you that without the sense of smell, life will almost still be the same but not quite.

I can live without the hearing. I was born deaf not mute. As I got older I can barely hear on my left ear but the right is still deaf. I have learned to deal with it and learned to talk, lip read and sign languages.

I don't want to lose anyone of them. No matter how hard i'm thinking, I just don't want to lose any of them. Without even one of them, I felt like my life is not complete anymore. I need all of them.

I had a car accident when I was 21 years old, and I lost my sense of smell then for a few months.. I realized this when one of my friends came to the hospital to visit me, and showed me a bottle of cologne she had just bought.. When I tried to smell it, I cant smell a thing.. I soon found out from the doctor that this was so because my olfactory nerve was a bit damaged by the accident.. He said that I might not be able to regain my sense of smell, or if ever I do, it wont be the same as before.. I was scared at first, but it didnt seem to bother me that much after a while.. I can still taste my food.. There were a little differences at times, but so far so good.. Then, I got back my nose (my sense of smell) a few months after that.. I therefore conclude that my sense of smell is something I can live without..
