What is an unresolved discussion?

It simply means that you still had not gave rating to the replies you received and chosen the best response in the discussion since you started it. In order to maintain your own rating (your star ), it is better to clear all unresolved discussions within certain period, for me, i will clear them in one week.

An unresolved discussion is one that you have given a best response to, it took m awhile to know what that was too, but I was too scared to ask when I was new....:)
