I don't do movie houses any more. It is too annoying. People are just plain rude. The talking, cell phones ringing, kids screaming, and it too expensive too. I'd rather watch a dvd, make my own popcorn and enjoy it in the comfort of my own place.

well i agree with you with that. but do you know that in japan it is really quiet inside the movie theater. people are really matured and seriously following the rules. no celphones, no talking. it was a real cool experience.

It really depends on the movie. Some of them you really need the big screen to appreciate what is going on. It is only a matter of months now before a movie comes out on dvd. If we liked the movie enough, then we will buy the dvd. We are trying to build up our collection.

Three years is a very long gap. As for me, i always try to make time every weekends for a movie in a theater, i am a big cinema fan, in the weekdays, its DVD's for me and the big screen for weekends.

ya i enjoy watching movies but my prob is i cant sit for 3 hours in the theater. so i prefer watching them at home. i can just pause and continue watching at my ease without distrurbing my schedules. anyway i dont buy the cds but hire them from the library. i saw about four or five films in the theater in the last 15 years that too when i was a bachelor.

I put it this way, new movies, watch at cinema. Old movies, i get dvd. For example, i don't think theres any t.v that can do justice to '300'. It has to be seen in the cinema.

that is right there are movies that is best seen in the wide screen than watching it at home. i havent seen 300 yet but i understand when you say there are films that can do justice when you see it on tv. thanks for the response servan and welcome to myLot.

I love going to the movies and try to go at least a couple of times a month. I'm a stay at home dad and I catch the matinees when the kids are in school...it's cheaper and quiter during those times so it's perfect...now if only there was matinee pricing on the concessions..LOL

For me, it depends on two factors, one, about whether I've been looking forward top the movie, and two, if I can watch the movie with people who also like a particular movie. For example, I love the great trilogies that have come our way, such as Lord of the Rings and the Matrix, so for each new movie, I make sure to make time to watch them in the big screen. On the other hand, knowing friends or relatives who are really looking forward to movies which I find interesting, I'd make the time to watch the movie with them, because discussing the movie during and after is also fun. If that's not the case, I'd rather watch it on DVD.

I used to go to the movies every Friday, before I had my son. Once he started talking, I spent more time telling him to "Hush" than watching the movie. Even now, I have to make him sit rows away from me so that he can't talk to me, but I still see him turning around to get my reaction to something. (It drives me crazy! He does it at home too. Like it's not funny if I'm not laughing too or something??) Anyway, I like DVDs because I can pause to go to the bathroom and rewind when he inevitably says something and makes me miss what the characters have said. The last movie we saw in the theater was Star Wars episode 3.

movie house - do you still go there and watch the latest movie?
i really enjoy watching movies but sometimes i don't have the money to go to to the movie house top watch the latest film. time also runs out for me, i can't seem top find an extra time to watch a movie and so i always end up buying a dvd for me to watch it at home. it is way more cheaper than watching on a movie house and it is more private. on a movie house, the person siting next to you is sometimes so loud, or even turn on their phones and texting or even making a big noise, they can't seem to find way to give privacy to other movie goers like them, they even have this attention getter ringtone when someone texts them and so the movie becomes meaningless and your money comes to waste. at home, where i can watch the movie on our dvd player, the whole family can watch it. it is cheaper and more convenient.
