I have been writing on various sites , both paid and volountary sites.I find some writers or topics attract more readership. What in your opinion is best to hit in the online market?

I agree with TinWolf who has more experience than me but I have been writing for the Internet for nearly a year and finding the right audiance is a key. That's why I prefer having the work come to me rather than me go find the work.

If you are highly versatile and can write on a cross section of subjects, the idea would work. Otherwise either the quality or the quantity would suffer for sure. what is your feed back?

With all due respect I don't strictly enjoy or trust E publishing or online topics to read, or submit to. That said I'm obviously here, DUH. I've been a writer most of my life and don't confine myself but certainly it's wise for a writer to find target markets and audiences. I'd hardly have a large reader base if I wrote an article about Country gardening and targeted it to City Dwellers. I guess what I suggest would be to actually read what is being submitted already to specific sites, and gear your writing toward those or avoid them to find others more related to your subject matter you most know and feel comfortable with. Being focused or specific doesn't neccesarily mean that readers will ignore your piece, just because it isn't in their range of interests. In fact I read or at least scan articles that are way out of my range of interest if only for educational purposes, or to remain timely in what's going on around me. Beyond that certainly; anything one writes has to be quality, at least in its technical aspects, and the design of anything written should be to engage and involve the audience. Steven Wolf

your observation seems to be logical. But i would share my experience. first it is not the readership that alone matters. Here i am slightly deviating from the subject. The marketing is the key. I feel many sites and revenue sharing platforms are cheating us . I do not have any proof, but it is an intelligent guess. Yah! I was talking about the readership. You rightly said that each writer need to do target marketing. But if you know the intricacies of marketing you and me would not be here and will be minting money while enjoying our writing. Business acumen and creative talent are not in equal proportion for the majority.

I agree, its making money. But there are a lot of subjects that surround that idea: How to find business ideas, what to expect in an online business, what to look for in a business, how to find the business that fits your lifestyle, Niche marketing, etc.

Topics about current events and popular figures always get attention. Write books instructing people how to do stuff. Explore your talents and you can make as much as you want online. Develop a website.
