globalisation, good or bad?

For hundreds of years the world has been getting progressively smaller (not literally of course) but since the invention of the internet its shrunk hugely. Ten years ago i'd never met an american yet here i am in my house in Wales having discussions with people all over the world. But is it a good thing that we can all interact so easily. will it lead to the eventual loss of our national identities? we hear everyday about jobs disappearing to China and india (this wouldn't have been possible 100 years ago) So are we better off in this modern world where we can talk to people anywhere in the world at any time or was the world a better place 200 years ago when America was that strange land across the sea that you only heard tales of?

I know what you mean. A few years ago I when I bought my computer(dell)I thought I was buying from a Canadian company. Much to my surprise, when I called the number, I ended up talking to someone in India. So, there you have it. The world is indeed getting smaller.

I think these good forums can make it easier to understand one another and perhaps we can teach our leaders cooperation that they will not have. Look in Iran where they are denouncing the leader saying the Holocaust didnt occur.
