Shopping lists

How do you guys determine your weekly shopping lists? I do a weekly planner, list what we will have for tea on each night, and the engredients I need to buy to make that. I need to be super organised, or I go crazy. My mum always did it like this. I always made fun of her, and so decided not to do it when I first moved out. After about 2 weeks of being disorganised I caved in. It is so easy to know what to cook, and plan out the week according to everyones work and committments. Does anyone else plan out their week like this? How do you plan the shopping list otherwise?

Shopping list is a MUST do thing before i go anywhere to buy something. Otherwise, i will end up buying many 'unwanted' things. Every first week of each month i will go and buy things for one month supply e.g soap,shower cream etc. Then twice a week i will buy something for cooking like fish or meat etc.
