Shyly is about 6 months old and as I've never had a cat before was wondering about heartworm meds if it's needed like we always had for our dogs. Do cats even get heart worms?

I use to work for a vet, and cats CAN get heartworms. It's not commone, but a cat who goes outside a lot, all it can take is 1 mosquito and it could give it hearworms. Be careful.. One of the many reasons my cats are indoor only cats....
