Does your entire family eat together? Do you eat at the table? Is there a specific time for dinner? So, what's your dinner routine....

Me and my husband eat together, but we always eat in the living room. The times my son eats are different every day, only 5 months and still on light baby food and a bottle. It's be nice to sit at the table, but my house is so clustered I don't think I can GET to it right now. Lol.

Yeah, I am Definitly NOT looking forward to that. I told my husband I was going to put him in a plastic bubble when he eats. Lol.

lol. i know that feeling. we have wood floors, and i always worried about "grease" (or whatever) stains. when my son was first learning to eat, i bought those huge yard bags (the cheap ones) and put them under his high chair whenever we had anything messy. lol.

lol. i remember when my son was a baby- and getting to anything was a hassle. :) enjoy the time with your husband. after all- you have spagetti on the floor, and mashed potato walls to look forward to. lol thanks for the reply.

We used to, and I do miss it a lot. We still eat together but my parents work the afternoons till the early evening. Sometimes they get home at about 7 pm and we have dinner at 7.30 pm. Personally, when used to having dinner at 5.30 pm that's quitte a change. Because it gets late we tend to get behing the tv-set with our plates on our laps, but it isn't as comfortable or cosy as in the kitchen at a big dinner table :(

I'm so sorry to hear you miss cozy family dinners. sometimes schedules just dont make it possible. maybe someday, things will go back to being early enough for it to happen! maybe one night, you could try cooking dinner, and having it set up at the table, when they came home. it might encourage it to stay at the table, if even once in a while. :) thanks for the response.

That's actually a great idea, I'll try that :). The work my parents do at the moment is for half a year, after that my mom will try to get a full time job and things will get back to normal again.

I like the way of looking at it. Some of the best times of childhood were spend eating dinner on sundays with the whole family.

We always eat dinner together! I think it is an important time of the day with life being so hectic. My Hubby works nights so we usually eat at 7:30 pm every night. I feel like it is a great time for us to all get together and talk about the day and what is going on in our lives. I grew up in a home where we always ate together, and I loved it! I hope that when my children are grown and have families of their own that they carry this with them as I have.

No we don't sit together at dinner. During the week my husband has to be at work at 2:00 in the afternoon and my oldest son is at school till about 3:30. So I cook before my husband goes to work and send a plate with him. And me and the kids eat when we feel like it. Usually not at the same time and hardly ever at the table.

I usually get dinner done between 5 and 6pm. We don't eat at a table because 1. our kitchen isn't big enough and 2. we don't have any chairs for our kitchen table. The kids sit at their kiddie table in the living room and me and my husband usually sit on the floor. We do all eat in the same room (if my husband isn't working) and we watch TV and talk about our day.

We try to eat dinner at the same time, mostly we do, but often some people drop in a bit later then others. Before we used to say a prayer to God and then we all began eating, but everybody has started being late for dinner so we've quit that, kind of dumb..

My husband and I both grew up in families that considered dinnertime together as one of the most important times of the day - a time to get to know one another and get involved in your children's lives, have healthy debates about issues that the family is interested in, help one another solve problems, etc... So, dinnertime at our house is the one time when all tvs are turned off - and the most important thing is interacting as a family. Sometimes, our girls have friends over - and I am amazed at the number of children who do not experience a family meal. Many of the question why we do this.

That is absolutely wonderful! Its so good to hear the tv goes off. Ours does too, but my husband complains sometimes. I am the one who definiately controls the "family dinner". I never had it growing up, and my family is going to. My son isn't old enough to have friends over yet, but I can imagine the kids that dont experience a family dinner. I'm sure it'll amaze me when the time comes. thanks for the response.

Yes we try to sit down at the table together each night. Some nights we eat in front of tv. It's just me and my husband eating right now. My son is 4 months old, so we get interrupted alot. lol.

I usually start to cook dinner around 5 or 6pm, while im cooking my husband or mother will feed my daughter. After she eats I clean her up and let her play while I finish cooking. Once dinner is done I serve my husband and mother then we either sit at the table of in the family room. My husband usually watches ESPN News or a game is on. So sometimes we eat at the table or in the family room depends. God Bless

Most nights my family eats together. Every now and then we eat seperate, but it really depends on what is going on that day. We eat at the coffe table. Does that count? We dont have a dinning room table, so that works good for us and the kids can reach it better
