In Singapore, as long as you are in primary, secondary schools and junior colleges, we have uniforms. Oh yea, nurseries and kindergartens too. But other than that, it's practically anything goes. *almost*

This may indeed be the case and acceptable fine if you live in a temperate climate. Those of us in the 'frozen north' have to cope with bleak winds in the winter! I remember a social occasion where I was in the company of a group of retired teachers and their 'dinner party conversation' included laughs about how blue the young boys legs became in their short trousers during winter. I was not amused as I didn't think this was a particularly humane attitude for professional adults to have.
