vegetarian or not?

is there really a need to kill animals when we can get almost anything and everything in a vegetarian/vegan options? some of my friends like the vegan morning farms burgers much better than the hamburgers... I am a born vegetarian and cannot imagine eating meat. this thread is not meant as an offence to anybody but just to start a healthy debate and for the opposing parties to learn the concept of the other.
