Is it measured by amount of dates or what do you think? i call this guy i am seeing my boyfriend because he doesnt want to see other women and i dont want to see other men, but according to him, we arent "there" yet...and he says it shouldnt have to be discussed when it happens...it will just happen....so needless to say im very confused...so what are your thoughts?

I believe there's not a minimum number of dates requirement before a couple could say they are officially a boyfriend or girlfriend. I mean, if you both feel the same way and that every little thing just seem so right when you are together, then why wait for ages to get official? after all, every day in your relationship is still a "getting to know" day as it takes a lifetime to know a person so well.
with my present boyfriend now, we knew each other through our company beach outing, I was with my colleagues and he was with his family and relatives. We bumped into each other in the sea. The next day, he fetched me in the office..then the following days we had lunch together... and at last, Friday of that same week he asked me for a formal date..and so we went out... and on that very same night, we got official... :P now, isn't it pretty quick? well, yeah it is... i knew him april 1st and we got official april 7th.. lol but who cares anyways? we are both happy and we're almost a year now... so I don't really believe in long courtship.. :P

Hmmm... Well it's clear he's keep you at arm's length right now but as for the particular reason why, only time will tell.
Personally I don't believe in the fabled magic moment when imaginary fireworks start shooting off and a huge neon sign floats in front of you saying "You're now officially in a serious relationship"... You have to simply talk to each other and keep the lines of communication open, and if for whatever reason you CAN'T talk openly with the other person then that's a sure sign you aren't where you want to be, at least not yet.
So relax, take a breath and be willing to pursue other interests in the meantime. Rome wasn't built in a day.
