You know I have read Janette Oke's books and totally enjoy them. Imagine my surprise when a movie was made out of a couple of her books. The first one was Love Comes Softly that they did a movie on. The actress who played Marty did a excellent job as well as the actor who played Clark. It is a movie about a couple who moves out west and on the way Marty's husband dies. There is a wagon train comes along and finds Marty's husband who had gone to look for one of their horses that had wandered away. When trying to catch the horse his horse fell and he fell off it and hit his head. One of the men bring Marty's husband slung over a horse and brings him to her. She is devastated and doesn't know what to do. Clark proposes a plan for her that would help her as well as himself. He is widowed and has a little girl to take care of. She has a small amount of time to think about it because the wagon train is moving on. Marty decides to take Clark up on his offer and from there the story progresses with a lot of interest to it. Marty can not cook and it is interesting to see how she handles this situation. Also along with the situation she is pregnant. The movie was done very well and followed the book very closely.

They actually have made a qhole series of movies. It is called the come softly sereis. The next one is about the husband getting hurt and a young man coming to the farm to help out and the daughter falls in love with him.The one after that is about the daughter and her new husband making it alone in the wilderness. And there is a new that has just come out that I have not seen. They all kept the orginal actors which is a great way to keep the story plot believable.

Thank you. I did not know there was a whole series in the movies. I'll have to watch the rest of them. I have read the series in the book form. Thank you for your response.

No problem. I always go through my best responses and pick out the best ones. Because in my book if a person takes the time to respond they are taking their time to answer me. Sometimes it is hard to pick the best one because they are all so close. In this case I thought yours was the best.

I have also read many of Janette Oke's books including the Love Comes Softly series. There are currently 4 movies out on the Love Comes Softly series. I have purchased and viewed all 4 and look forward to the rest of the series coming out in movies. While the movies are excellent the books are able to include more detail. I do like the movies though and think that they are excellent in following the book.

Thanks gberlin, I have read quite a few of her books and love every one. I am a big book reader and when I pick up one of her books I better be sure the dishes are done and any housework that needs to be done. I open her book and most times I don't put it down until I am finished. I get very caught up in her way of telling her story. I loved the movie and didn't realize that there were other of her stories turned into movies. I read all of the Love Comes Softly series and loved it when I found out about the movie. I look forward to seeing the other three movies and then I will await anxiously to see the others come to the screen. Thanks for you telling me about that.

I've seen the movie several times and it is one of my favorites Everything that the "couple" goes through and the way they deal with situations. This movie makes me laugh, cry, get mad, and think about human nature.

I had read the book about this story before I had seen the movie. I loved the movie as well. They followed the story of the book perfectly. I loved it as well as the book. The thing I like about this line of story is it is a good christian story. There is no cussing at all. A whole family could watch it together and you wouldn't have to worry.

I love this movie and have it on dvd. I've watched it several times. I also have 3 of the sequels that follow. "Love Comes Softly" has many valuable lessons in it. It's refreshing in it's clean and moral approach. The scenery is breathtaking. There are hardships, but it's wonderful to see how they are handled. The acting is great. Janette Oke is an amazing writer. I've read one of her books and it was so multi-layered, unlike many that you know what is going to happen.

I love thoes books. I read them over & over. But I didn't care much for thr movies. I don;'t think they were enough like the books. So many of the things they changed were the things I love in the books.
