Well for depression, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle depression.

Please remember that all anti-depressents take at least 6 weeks to kick in.

my doctors get me to come in once a month to see if everything is ok, when i told my doc that i didnt like the new medication i started at christmas, he did want me to wait another month (that would have been 3 months on it) just to see if it did help but yesterday i went back (2 weeks after last appt for other reason) and said i cant handle it anymore so im now going off them slowly for 2 weeks ready to start a new one. while the previous poster is right in that its not always a chemical imbalance, i do know from experience that the medications just help us get through to be better prepared to accept the help that therapy can give us. but always work closely with your doctor with your medications and dont be afraid to tell them its not workign for you. it can sometimes take a while to get the medication and combination right to make you feel better and help you cope..

Different people need different kind of treatment, different medication and different dosages. If you are given medication that does not help, or even make you worse, you should imideately talk to your doctor. You may need another type of treatment, medication, or dosage of it. It is vital you see your doctor about it as soon as possible.

Besides seeking alternative medications, you should also consider other forms of treatment, like therapy. Often times depression isn't just a chemical imbalance that can be treated by a pill, and sometimes it is even just a symptom of a greater problem that can't be treated by anti-depressant medication.
