Was my Mom being a YKW or was she right?

Ok, I'll admit I have very blonde tendencies but I've never thought to ask anyone about this until now! Could someone please tell me if my mom was just being a mean YKW or was she right? First off, my mom has always been sensitive about her age. I truly believe she resented the fact that I made her a grandmother before she was 40. Anyway, on my twenty fifth birthday, she asked me how it felt to be an antique! While I blew it off at the time, her comment has stuck with me over the years and now I find myself actually wondering if she was right. As a mother myself now, I'm still finding out she was right about alot more things than I ever gave her credit for when I was growing up. . ;D So now, I'd like your opinion, was my mother right about anything 25 years or older being an antique or was she just being a YKW and being mean?

I was always under the impression that a thing had to be at least 50 years old to be considered an antique. When I worked in an ecclectic shop (next to one that did carry antiques) people would occasionally come into "my" shop and ask if we had any antiques. I'd always answer, "Just me!"

Oh, how funny! What a great response, it's guaranteed to get a laugh! I have never really had to worry about antiques before, but now some of my stuff is getting close to 25 yrs old, so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. :)

I think 25 years qualifies something to be listed as "vintage".

I have heard that in regards to objects. So i don't think she was being mean per se! Granted. . .You are as old as you feel.

LOL, Well I definately don't feel 40! I am glad to know it was a turn of phrase rather than a spiteful thing. Wasn't always easy to tell with mom.
