Does anyone know about these cars? Opel Astras?

My mom and I are planning to buy a car these days; We don't have money for some expensive car (I would love to have Audi TT :)) so we are in dilemma about which one. I suggested Opel Astra, since I really like this model, but she said that she heard they are braking easily and that they in many ways not so good. Does anyone know or have experience with Opel Astra? Is my mom right or wrong? What about the comfort - with which car could you compare Astra's with?

Thank you for reply liranlgo, it's been a long time... Right now we are considering to buy Fiat, maybe Stilo or Punto.

Maybe a Renault Clio or Megane would be better than both Opel and Fiat especially Fiat, where I live (muzembic or whatever LoL!)Reunault & Peugeot are the preferable coz relatively cheap & reliable but still german cars are the best, maybe a volkwagen, relatively cheap too ..

I would advice you not to buy a Astra. From what i have heard, They are not much good a car, they efficiency is bad, they break down easily after a few years, comfort wise ii would rate them so-so. Overall, they will score a rating of 6/10 which is bad. Sorry, but i cant think of a better car of the same price tag right now. P.S- i have driven a Opel Astra

Well, we've had opel astra before and we weren't that happy about it. Many problems. Every car brand has their own specialty and weakness. I suggested that you look around for all type of cars that fit your budget and find out both their weakness and specialty. My family changed our car almost every year, not because of we are rich but simply because fixing it cost more than if we buy second hand car and we tried different kinda car (second hand) brand everytime. But for a long term, we are trying to save some money to buy a hybrid car (runs with benzine and electric too). Cost a lot but in the end it will definitely save a lot of money. So, good luck and I hope you'll find the car that you like.
