So I was flipping through my latest Oxygen magazine last night and came across a short blurb that said Nelson Labs had done tests on numerous handbags and foudn that 25% of them had E.Coli! I was kinda shocked I have to admit..Not because of the 25% thing but simply because it was something I'd NEVER in my wildest dreams considered...I mean who would have thought your handbag could make you sick! any thoughts on this?

I think this is quiet scary. It makes you wonder where those handbags were made and how e coli got on them. That's nuts!!

Well I would think also WHAT they are made of would be a factor too...then of course where they are stored, where they are made like you mentioned and so on...

I never considered that before but it makes sense. How many women had picked up the handbags in stores and never even thought about washing their hands first. Now I'll have to go and use disinfectant wipes on my many handbags!

I saw the same thing on TV on a current affairs programme. It's all about putting your bag down on the ground and they recommended you get one that you can wipe down easily or even wash. I was amazed at that little revelation. I carry a large cloth bag as my handbag, fortunately it's made of cotton, so I think i'll give it a wash! Ugh, all those nasty little bugs! lol

I've always said ...and this proves it. You should not eat your handbag!!! No matter how mad you get, or how hungry. Don't do it!!! lol

We take them into the public loo with us. When you flush some of the bacteria becomes aerosolized and it lands on EVERYTHING, your bag, the floor, the floor where you set your bag..... They did a segment on this on the Discovery Health program Dr. Know.

Absolutely I have thoughts on that!! I am probably more germ phobic than most people, but one thing I am very adament about is not putting my purse on bathroom floors or even countertops! Oh, it just grosses me out when I go in a stall and can see a purse on the floor in the next stall. I just want to speak up and tell that lady she should NOT put her purse there!! SICK!!! I can practically see germs in my minds eye. I have a very overactive imagination and never touch door handles, stall handles of bathrooms or even like to touch money. Do you realize how VERY filthy money is?? Think about gas pump handles. Oh . . . don't get me started. I use antibacterial solution everytime I get back in my car from being ANYWHERE. I have a pump bottle of it stuck in the map slot of my door, so it's handy. I just reach down and push the pump down and rub my hands together. I don't even have to touch anything else first. People make fun of me sometimes, and sort of look at me funny when I walk in the grocery store and use their complimentary antibacterial wipes to clean the basket handle, but hey, I am NEVER sick. I love my church, but one thing we do at the end of all our services is hold hands across the aisle and sing the closing song. I HATE that. I don't know where that person's hands have been! Ugh... I could go on and on and on . . .
