Hello
Many years ago my animal crazy daughter had her heart set on having a donkey.
I had never had one but had been around them and had not so fond memorier of
being tossed from one, being kicked by one, having one bite me,having been chased out
of the field by one....Anyway I said"we'll think about it" which in my
mindmeant'when pigs fly'
We often went to a stock auction just for fun.One evening at the stock auction while
walking along the stall looking at the horses my daughter spotted this dirty, hair
falling out, runny eyed, lame old donkey. She kept asking if we could buy her. That
donkey gave me a look that told me if I dared to come near her she would make me
wish I had never been born.I told her we'll see"yeh right!'
We went in and when this donkey was brought in actually dragged in everybody
started laughing and yelling that she wasn't worth a ride to the slaughter house
My daughter looked sad and her lips started to quiver and she she sniffed and
looked the other way then .She knew in her heart that there was no way under gods blue sky that that miserable beast was coming home with us and she knew exactly where she would be tommorrow and not in our pasture. She was trying to be brave as a 7 year old could be but her heart was breaking. She didn't even bother to ask me to bid...she knew!
The bid started at $5 and finally begrugingly got to $50.
Going once, going twice...I glanced at my sweet good-heared daughter. One little tear
rolled down her cheek her cheek....out of nowhere an angel lifted my hand higher
higher.....Oh a new bidder.....the sold to number 498...Oh sh** what have I done?
Who put my hand up.My daugfhter feel asleep happy that night. We wnt to pick up the
beast and what happened after is another story all toghther.
Got any like this?
